OurTsimshian Raven stories begin with Wee Lakaga/Great Spirit sending Moks’gm Gaak/Spirit Raven to the Earth realm below the seven heavenly realms, to create creatures for Ma’a Holizhock/Mother Earth to feed with wonderful nutrients.
When I designed this red cedar wood carving I wanted to tell that story within the body and beak of Raven.
The human and animals are depicted by facial design components, other shapes represent Raven’s heart and inner ancestral DNA, or his family root system.
